RECOGNITION OF QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE PURPOSES OF REGISTRATION IN CONSTRUCTION HEALTH AND SAFETY (CHS) CATEGORIES
The South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) would like to inform its stakeholders about the Qualifications it recognises for the purpose of registration in Construction Health and Safety (CHS) registration categories. All qualifications that are recognised by the SACPCMP for the purpose of registration must be accredited by the Council of Higher Education (CHE) or the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) and registered with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
In the case of an individual who holds a foreign qualification and applies for a professional designation, the SACPCMP must confirm that SAQA has evaluated the foreign qualification and found it to be comparable to the South African qualification underlying that professional designation. This however does not address any issues of quality assurance or appropriateness of the qualification, and once verified by SAQA does not guarantee that it will be accepted by the SACPCMP for the purpose of registration.
Kindly ensure that your members verify with the SACPCMP whether their qualification is recognised as an underlying qualification for the designation they are applying for before commencing with the application process.
